Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born on November 23rd 1926 in Puttaparthi, a small village in southern India. From an early age he showed extraordinary qualities and abilities that clearly distinguished him from other children. His compassion, benevolence, wisdom, and generosity towards all living beings produced profound changes of character and behavior in all who followed him, even from his youth.

At the age of 14, on October 20th 1940, he told his family and followers that from that moment on, he would be known as Sai Baba and that his mission was to reestablish the principle of Righteousness, to promote the spiritual regeneration of humanity, to motivate love towards God and to promote selfless service to others. Since then he has displayed daily, in practical and concrete terms, the highest ideals of truth, righteousness, peace, love and non-violence.

His Spiritual Message

Sathya Sai Baba is a highly revered spiritual leader whose life and message are inspiring millions of people throughout the world to turn towards God and to lead more purposeful lives. His universal and timeless teachings, coupled with the way he guides his own life, are attracting seekers of Truth from all religions around the world. However, he is not looking to start a new religion. Nor does he wishes to direct his followers to any particular religion. Rather, He urges us to continue in the religion of our choice and/or in the one we’ve been brought up with. He constantly insists that his followers should not abandon their beliefs, rather become better Christians, better Jews, better Muslims, better Buddhists, etc. With this perspective he inspires us to live by recognizing “Unity in diversity”.

I have come to fulfill the supreme task of uniting humanity as one unique family. Through the bond of brotherhood, reassuring and enlightening the reality of every being.

With that purpose, He has dedicated His life to service for humanity. Through his speeches and writings, Sathya Sai Baba has offered a true ocean of knowledge and guidance in all aspects for a spiritual, religious and a life guided by human values. He has often repeated that it is not necessary to drink the whole ocean to know its taste, that it is not necessary to read all the scriptures to live a life of joy, peace and love. It is enough to practice at least one aspect of the spiritual teachings.
